Because I have nothing better to talk about, I figured I’d update the world on my progress pertaining to my Non-Resolutions…

“Jessica’s List of Non-Resolutions”
1.) Don’t get fat.
Check. This one’s going pretty well so far.
2.) Read. I love to read. Sadly, last semester went by so quickly that I neglected this hobby. Read a book every week. (Unless it’s particularly long or dicey, such as Pride and Prejudice.
Okay, so maybe I forgot that I have 4 textbooks to read. And also (kind of? maybe?) a life. BUT. I have read several (at least 6 or 7?) books so far this year.
3.) Actually finish reading Pride and Prejudice. (I barely started reading it about a year ago, but was daunted by Austen’s…rich language.) Read it, delve into the characters, assess strengths and weaknesses, compare it to the beloved 2005 film version, assess the film’s shortcomings, then throw them out the window because Matthew Macfadyn will always be the perfect Mr. Darcy.
On chapter…8? Maybe? (I totally did not realize how long this might actually take.
4.) Learn at least one new cover song every week…or two weeks…
…I have yet to learn any cover songs this year. I fail. WHAT SONGS SHOULD I LEARN? Maybe some Carole King and the like? Sara Bareilles? Help me out, maybe, by commenting a song I should learn?
5.) Broaden my musical horizons. Listen to new bands. Play a jazz piano piece. Practice and apply what I learn in vocal lessons. Actually learn to play guitar.
Well. I have listened to a few new bands. No jazz yet. Doing slightly better with vocal lessons. Taking guitar lessons.
6.) Whoa. Get a haircut. (Seriously.)
Done. But my bangs are driving me absolutely insane.
7.) Quality time. Make time for it.
8.) Be brave. Ask for things. Try.
I am. Well. I’m doing better. I’m being braver. I’ve even gone out of my comfort zone and ACTED for the first time ever. (I was killed with a meat cleaver. I didn’t even know what a meat cleaver was until my fellow cast member was hurling one at my head.)
9.) Talk to one new person every day…maybe every other day… (I do not have the talent of conversing easily with people I have never met before. Heck, I don’t have the talent of conversing easily with people I have met.
Well. I did talk to some random person today. Is that good enough?
10.) Learn all the words to Billy Joel’s “We Didn’t Start the Fire.”
10% learned. (It is way more difficult than I thought it would be.)
11.) Finish my artist bio… (Yeah. Still haven’t done that.)
Yeah. Still haven’t done that.
12.) Learn how to use WordPress…

Otherwise. Life’s pretty good at the moment. Classes were canceled today due to weather, and *hopefully* tomorrow as well, because I could totally get used to being this lazy and accomplishing absolutely nothing.
I also have some pretty exciting news. But I can’t really share it at the moment.
To make up for a rather vague post, I’ve decided to reward anyone with the patience to read it with a new song on Soundcloud… (sorry, I’m fresh out of cookies. )
Also, just a small reminder/announcement… my music is available for you–yes, you–to purchase/download/enjoy. It’s a total dream come true that this is actually for real (for me, anyway.) But, if you’re broke (maybe you’re a college student? If so, I can empathize), you can listen to a few of my songs on Soundcloud (like “Stand Out,” the one I’ve just uploaded) for freeeeee. (And then like it and share it with the world. Because sharing really is caring.)
Now that I’ve begged, I’m done.
(I’m terribly sorry that I have absolutely nothing clever to say.)
