finally welcoming in the new year with Billy Joel…

I meant to finish this post sooner, and Christmas/New Year’s/my recent WiFi-lessness are to blame for the delay (as well as the laziness that accompanies a month-long holiday).

When I heard that Billy Joel was performing on “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest” (totally didn’t just Google what the full name of that show was), I immediately rushed to the TV and was devastated to discover that the channel on which that show aired was not one of the 3 channels that is picked up by the huge, hideous antenna looming over our house.

And so, almost a week into 2014, I am finally finishing this blog post and blasting Billy Joel from my computer. It’s a sad substitute, really, but whatever.

Normally, I’m not a New Year’s Resolution-y type person. (I have zero willpower, and a terrible memory, and am otherwise incapable of keeping promises to myself.) However, I’ve compiled a list of a few things that I would like to do this year…

“Jessica’s List of Non-Resolutions”

1.) Diet

1.) Lose weight

1.) Get in shape

1.) Get more exercise

1.) Don’t get fat.

2.) Read. I love to read. Sadly, last semester went by so quickly that I neglected this hobby. Read a book every week. (Unless it’s particularly long or dicey, such as Pride and Prejudice.

3.) Actually finish reading Pride and Prejudice. (I barely started reading it about a year ago, but was daunted by Austen’s…rich language.) Read it, delve into the characters, assess strengths and weaknesses, compare it to the beloved 2005 film version, assess the film’s shortcomings, then throw them out the window because Matthew Macfadyn will always be the perfect Mr. Darcy.

4.) Learn at least one new cover song every week…or two weeks…

5.) Broaden my musical horizons. Listen to new bands. Play a jazz piano piece. Practice and apply what I learn in vocal lessons. Actually learn to play guitar.

6.) Whoa. Get a haircut. (Seriously.)

7.) Quality time. Make time for it.

8.) Be brave. Ask for things. Try.

9.) Talk to one new person every day…maybe every other day… (I do not have the talent of conversing easily with people I have never met before. Heck, I don’t have the talent of conversing easily with people I have met.

10.) Learn all the words to Billy Joel’s “We Didn’t Start the Fire.”

11.) Finish my artist bio… (Yeah. Still haven’t done that.)

12.) Learn how to use WordPress…

THE END.

So yes. Those are my resolutions. Kind of.

I didn’t make resolutions last year, but I did accomplish a lot… I recorded an album (you may have heard) annnnd it’s now the World Wide web, available for download on iTunes (I’m the only Jessica Faith on iTunes. Yay.) annnd (for the Apple Product-less) on Amazon.com and cdbaby.com, my distributor. Those links are below, and hopefully they work…

“Wallflower” on CD Baby Music Store

“Wallflower” on Amazon.com

When I finally learn how, I’ll just make a little widget thingy with links to these places. This is what I have now, though. I apologize for my technological ignorance.

Well. Guess that’s all for now. Merry (late late late) Christmas and Happy (late-ish) New Year to all.

-Jessica Faith
